Paul McCartney @ Citi Field

From Friday night at the Paul McCartney show at Citi Field.

You’ll notice I’m about 5 rows back from the stage.  What the picture doesn’t explain is that I had an all access pass to the show via Stereogum, and it was free.

Sean explains it better here, but needless to say – Stereogum made one McCartney fan a very happy camper.  Thanks pals.

Still be two days til I say I’m sorry

I just realized, it’s been one year since I started this blog.

I can be a little cold, but you can be so cruel

I live in Connecticut.  It’s cold sometimes, but i’m totally cool with that.

What i’m not so ok with, is how ridiculously fast the temperature changes from October-ish to November-ish.

I left campus yesterday evening and was so cold it took my breath away.  It’s going to get much colder very soon, but I think this week has been the first “so freakin cold!” type of weather this winter.  Thursday morning I saw the first flurries of the season.   It’s really nothing new, but the trouble is, I’m not mentally or physically prepared to commit to this kind of weather.  Coats and scarves etc.  I’m still in fall-mode. I never even had apple cider.

Mum always says that Fall, “Comes in like a kitten and goes out like a lion.”

Not ready just yet, mother nature.

Really?

Dear Construction Workers,

You guys have been working on the floors above and below me for about three weeks.  Sure, it’s been loud.  Sure, I usually have to step over various forms of construction gear on my way in. And sure, it’s usually awkward when I see you at 9:30am and I’m still in my PJ’s (I’m a college student, so yeah – I sleep in pretty much every day).  But so far, it’s really not been that terrible.

That was until this morning. I understand that your construction noises can’t be avoided.  I can’t say, “Turn down that jackhammer!” or “Can you cut that 2×4 a little quieter? I’m trying to do work here…” but what I can say is, “Why on earth would you listen to Star 99.9?”  Savage Garden, Train, Celine Dion.  Why?  (I almost included Kelly Clarkson in that list, but I’m secretly OK with Kelly Clarkson.)   This is doctor’s office music, and you are a crew of five or six burly guys, doing serious man-work.  Do you know how many college radio stations we get here?  How many alternative music stations we get here?  We even get some pretty good AM stuff in these parts as well.   But Star 99.9?  You’re being serious?  All day?

Let me know what’s going on,

Min

Desperate Times & Desperate Measures

“Look, we’re all going through tough times right now, and all you do is sleep and eat and play.  Why don’t you help out? Get a job.  At least do the dishes or something…seriously…what do you DO?”

My twenty three year old brother, talking to Brodie – my dog.

They were alone.

Thanks Mother Nature, you’re the best!

So did someone write a really, really nice letter to Mother Nature asking for perfect weather?

Because seriously – this has been pretty fantastic.

Jenny Lewis is my dream girl

Needless to say, I’m psyched.

F1rst!

Today is my last first day of school ever.

Here I am on my first first day of school ever.

After seventeen years of school, I’m definitely older and a little wiser.

At least wise enough to not bring Yellow Teddy with me.

Monty the Montauk Monster

I’ve been hearing alot about this Montauk Monster, in blogs, and more recently via CNN, Newsday and more.

I know people think it’s possibly some sort of guerrilla marketing tactic (for the devil?), or it could possibly be a turtle that’s seen better days, or maybe even the bringer of doom for mankind.  But it’s been a while now, and there’s been no concrete evidence of it being any of the aforementioned, so naturally, I fear that it is indeed a monster.

Not too long ago, stemming off of a conversation about Monster HoodiesJenn and I had a talk about our fears; her completely irrational fear of sharks, and subsequent dislike of shark week, and my more rational fear of monsters.

Given this, I’m not going to be reading any more about Monty the Montauk Monster, because I prefer sleeping at night.  But please, at the earliest opportunity, contact me when there’s some official confirmation of it not being a monster / coming to eat me.

Thanks,

Minnie.

Michael Ende’s inspiration, i’m sure.

rename your dog

The Never Ending Story was my favorite movie as a kid.  And Kasper is one of my favorite dogs as an adult.

Melinda, I think you should rename your dog.
